We’ll depart San Pedro de Atacama and drive to the trailhead. From the parking area, you’ll begin an approximately 30-minute hike through the Puritama Canyon, where you can admire the desert landscape, cacti, and distinctive rock formations.


Upon arrival at the Purilibre thermal pools (also known as Termas de Puripobre), enjoy time to relax and recharge after the hike in waters up to 22 °C. We’ll stay in the area for around 2 hours. Then we’ll hike back (about 30 minutes) to the vehicle and return to San Pedro de Atacama, where the activity ends.


Important notes


  • No changing rooms on site. We recommend wearing your swimsuit from San Pedro.
  • Pick-up and drop-off not available for lodgings outside the urban area, in nearby ayllus (Quitor, Yaye, Checar, Sequitor, Solor, Coyo), or in Toconao.
  • Estimated times: 30 minutes of hiking each way and 2 hours at the pools.
  • Water temperature: up to 22 °C / 72 °F (temperate), great for relaxing, but the water is not too hot.

  • In spite of the fact that both places are in the same river, Puritama is closer to the source of the hot springs, so you have hot and warm water. Besides, it is a thermal complex, so it has bathrooms and dressing rooms. For its part, Puripobre is farther away from the source of the hot springs, so you have warm and cold water, and it is not a thermal complex, so it has no bathrooms nor dressing rooms. Moreover, to access to Puripobre you have to make a 40-minute medium difficulty walk to reach the pools (not suitable for people with limited mobility), while in Puritama you can have easy access through walkways (suitable for all people).

  • From the 4 hours that lasts the activity, approximately, you will use 2 hours tops to dive into the hot springs.

  • To book Purilibre Hot Springs, you must choose the date and follow the steps on the website. You can add more tours to your cart before confirming your booking.
  • We accept bookings up to 1 days in advance, subject to availability. Therefore, we recommend booking as early as possible to secure your spot.
  • A minimum of 6 people is required to confirm the service. If this number is not met, we will offer you the closest available dates or a full refund. The earlier you book, the more time we have to add passengers and confirm the departure.
