Description
We’ll depart from San Pedro de Atacama to a dark-sky area ideal for astronomy.
We’ll start with a friendly briefing covering basics, cardinal directions, and tips to spot constellations. Then you’ll stargaze with the naked eye and through a telescope, identifying planets, stars, and open/globular clusters.
There will be time for night-sky photos (optional) and questions before returning to de Atacama, where the tour ends.
Important notes
- The tour operates with two (2) daily time slots that are released progressively. First, Time Slot 1 (the earliest departure) is opened. Once it is fully booked, Time Slot 2 becomes available.
- Itinerary order may change without prior notice.
- Visibility depends on cloud cover and the moon phase (dark skies favor faint objects; bright moon enhances the landscape).
- Pick-up not available from or to lodging outside the urban area, nearby ayllus (Solor, Quitor, Poconche, Yaye, Sequitor, and Cucuter), or Toconao.

- The place where the activity is made is in a close plot, fifteen minutes from the city of San Pedro de Atacama. It is important to get away from the areas with too much light, so we can have the least amount of light pollution as possible for the astronomical observation.

On the other hand, the Astrophotography Tour is oriented toward deep-sky observation and includes a more complete night photography experience, with greater dedication to capturing images under the stars.
