We will leave San Pedro de Atacama early, following a road near the town of Machuca. You will reach the base of the hill, at an altitude of 4,200 m, from where you will begin the Cerro Jorquencal Climb, a low-difficulty hike that lasts 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on weather conditions and the pace of the group.
Depending on the season, you may encounter some snow, which changes the landscape slightly. Once at the summit, at 4,926 m, you will have time to rest and enjoy spectacular views of the Salar de Atacama basin and the Andes Mountains.
Afterwards, you will descend the hill, taking you from 30 minutes to an hour, then board your vehicle to return to San Pedro de Atacama. It’s an ideal experience for those seeking a first Andean summit with wide-ranging views and simple logistics.
