Depart from Rio toward the mountain region of the state. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of Serra dos Órgãos National Park, known for its dramatic rock formations and lush vegetation.
Before arriving in Petrópolis, you will pass by the Quitandinha Palace, an iconic building that operated as a luxury hotel and casino in the 1940s and remains one of the region’s most recognizable landmarks.
Once in the city, you will visit the Cathedral of Saint Peter of Alcântara, where the remains of Emperor Dom Pedro II, founder of Petrópolis and the last emperor of Brazil, are buried.
