Descripción

If you look for the trek from Puerto Natales enter here.

Experience one of the most iconic hikes in Patagonia with the Base Las Torres Trek, inside Torres del Paine National Park. A challenging hike that leads to the viewpoint of the park’s famous granite towers.

We will start early with the transfer from Punta Arenas heading north, on a 5-hour journey to Estancia Torres del Paine, the starting point of the trek. After a briefing from our guide, we will cross the Asencio River by an old bridge and begin the ascent to El Chileno Camp, surrounded by lenga forests and mountain streams from Mount Almirante Nieto.

After a short break, we will continue up to the viewpoint at 700 meters of altitude. From there, the trail becomes steeper until reaching Base Las Torres, where the impressive Central, Monzino, and Dagostini towers rise, along with the Peineta and Nido de Cóndores peaks if the weather allows. You will have time to rest and enjoy the view before descending the same trail.

We will then return to the starting point and board the vehicle back to Punta Arenas, closing an unforgettable adventure in Torres del Paine.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The activity is available year-round. While summer (December to March) brings a higher chance of clear skies, Patagonian weather, its mix of clouds, rain, and wind, can occur at any time of year. For that reason, we recommend coming prepared and set for all kinds of weather, including the possibility of not seeing the Torres del Paine if they’re covered.

  • No. Under typical local conditions such as rain, snow, or cloud cover, the activity operates as normal. Only in extreme situations that could compromise visitor safety (such as whiteout conditions, heavy snow accumulation, or strong gusts), or due to force majeure (such as road closures or strikes), might the activity be suspended. These situations are very rare and usually happen only once or twice a year.

  • The difficulty level of this trek is high. The total distance that you will have to walk is 20 kilometers in a round trip tour. The total duration of the trek is 8 hours, always subject to the physical conditions of the group and the weather conditions. The total height of the track is 680 meters, between the 170 meters above sea level from the beginning point of the hike, and the 850 meters above sea level of the Base Las Torres Viewpoint, having a lot of ascents and descents.
  • Because we are talking about a mountain activity, of medium-high difficulty, our suggestion is to go with trekking poles, although we know these are not essential for the walking.
  • The Torres del Paine Full Day is a panoramic tour (suitable for all audiences), with which you can visit the Cueva del Milodon and the main lookout points of the Torres del Paine National Park, while the Base of Torres del Paine Hike is an 8-hours round trip walk (suitable only for people with trek experience) that reaches the base of the Torres del Paine. Both are completely different and complementary activities.
