We’ll start the activity in Villa Río Serrano, where your guide for the Serrano & Grey Rivers Kayak Tour will outfit you with full gear (wetsuit, booties and neoprene mambas, jacket, spray skirt, paddles, PFD, helmet, and dry bag) and deliver a safety briefing before entering Torres del Paine National Park.
At the Pingo River area, we’ll start with a 20-minute intro and safety talk. Then you’ll launch and paddle the Grey River toward the Grey Lake peninsula, where icebergs calved from the Grey Glacier drift across the water, a prime Patagonia scenery.
Afterwards, you’ll begin the Serrano River downstream section (about 3 hours) with a stop at the Grey River bridge and a short upstream detour back to the base. Then, we’ll return to Villa Río Serrano to end the tour.
The Serrano & Grey Rivers Kayak is a unique experience in which you navigate through the waters of the river, surrounded by mountains and glaciers of Chilean Patagonia. Departing from Puerto Natales, the tour allows you to explore spectacular landscapes, with views of the Southern Ice Fields and the majestic Paine Mountain Range. This tour is ideal for those looking for an adventure activity and wish to experience the immensity and beauty of Patagonia from a unique perspective, paddling in the natural environment of Torres del Paine National Park.
No previous experience is required to participate in the Serrano & Grey Rivers Kayak, as the tour is designed for beginners and people with different skill levels. The guides provide an introductory class and safety measures before starting, ensuring that all participants are comfortable and prepared. This kayaking excursion is perfect for those who want to experience an adventure in Chilean Patagonia in a controlled and safe environment, exploring the Serrano River and its surroundings.
The Serrano & Grey Rivers Kayak includes all the necessary equipment, such as kayaks, paddles, life jackets and waterproof suits. Participants should only bring comfortable layered clothing, an extra change of clothes, and sunscreen, as the weather in Patagonia can be unpredictable. It is also recommended to bring a waterproof camera to capture the spectacular views of the Paine Mountain Range and the surroundings of the Serrano River. These measurements ensure a safe and comfortable experience on the tour from Puerto Natales.
This activity is carried out in a double kayak. On the day of the tour, you'll share the kayak with another passenger or with the guide if the total number of passengers is uneven.
The meeting point for this activity is the Nash Lodge, in the Villa Río Serrano, so you have to go from Puerto Natales to this place following the route Y-290, considering the time you will have to spend to get there on time (around two hours). We recommend renting a car for this, so you can manage your time and be able to travel with more freedom, or consider the Hotel Lago Grey & Villa Río Serrano Shuttle, with its corresponding terms.
Residents in Chile:
Non-residents in Chile:
The entrance fee for Torres del Paine National Park must necessarily be bought not later than the day before the excursion, in https://www.pasesparques.cl/. At the moment of the pickup, the guide will ask for the entrance fees to all passengers, including children and adults over the age of 60. If one of them does not have the tickets, he or she will not be able to make the tour and there will be no refund.
The entrance fee is valid for 3 consecutive days, so you can re-enter without paying again, as long as you pass for one of the entrances so valid your ticket.
