The Sollipulli Volcano is a massive caldera averaging 4 km in diameter, located between Melipeuco and Curarrehue in Chile’s Araucanía Region, nestled between the active Llaima and Villarrica volcanoes. On this trek, you will discover the glacier inside the crater, walk through araucaria and coigüe forests, and enjoy panoramic views of the Andean peaks.
This 11 km round-trip hike (about 3.5 hours) begins in native forests and continues across volcanic soil up to the summit. Along the way, you may spot wildlife such as the Andean condor, Magellanic woodpecker, and mountain caracara, as well as stunning Andean lagoons that thaw in summer.
We will return to the starting point after a memorable day hiking the Sollipulli Volcano, surrounded by ancient forests, glaciers, and breathtaking mountain views.
