The Navigation starts from the Tourist Dock, crossing the Bay of Ushuaia, reaching the Beagle Channel through Paso Chico. There, we will sail around the Bird Island, where we will see Skuas, Black-browed Albatross, Steamer Ducks, Cauquenes, Grey Gulls and Cook Gulls. Then we head to the Sea Lion Island, where we will see seals, of one and two hairs. Later, navigation will take us to Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, where we will see colonies of Imperial Cormorants, and Rockers Cormorans.
We continue towards Martillo Island to see, from the catamaran at the shore, the Magellan penguin colony that inhabits that place. It is in these icy waters where penguins nest and have their young. Sailing back, we will see all the mountain range surrounding the city of Ushuaia.
*There's no disembark in the Martillo Island.
*The Magellan penguins are migratory birds and are in the Martillo Island from the beginning of October to the beginning of April. However, there are more specimens between November and February.
*To book this tour, you must pay a deposit of the total price through the website. The remaining balance must be paid in cash (U.S. dollars or Argentine pesos) on the day you take the activity.
The Isla Lobos & Penguin Colony Navigation is available only during the high season, from October to the beginning of April, to ensure penguin observation and the best scenic experience.
No, during the Isla Lobos & Penguin Colony Navigation, there is no disembarkation at Martillo Island, but the penguin colony can be observed up close from the boat.
The cruise takes place on a modern aluminum catamaran built for naval use, with capacity for over 150 passengers and designed for a comfortable, safe sightseeing experience. On board you’ll find a kitchen and bar, a lounge with panoramic views, and a large bow deck that’s perfect for wildlife watching and photos. The boat also features restrooms, a heating system throughout the vessel, and full safety equipment: an automatic smoke detection and fire alarm system by risk zones, manual fire alarms at lounge exits, and life rafts and life jackets for 100% of passengers. All our catamarans are approved by the Argentine Coast Guard, so you can simply relax, enjoy the scenery and be amazed by the landscape and local wildlife.
