What to bring:
The journey starts in Puerto Río Tranquilo, from where we’ll travel 52 km to the trailhead. The approach hike takes you through forests and viewpoints overlooking Tranquilo Lake, Bayo Lake, and La Nutria Waterfall. We’ll ascend to the first viewpoint and then cross a rocky moraine at the glacier’s edge, a 2-hour trek.
Once on the clean ice, you’ll put on your crampons to begin exploring the glacier. For about 2.5 hours, you’ll walk among incredible ice formations, glacial lagoons, and ice caves that change constantly with time.
After enjoying this extraordinary scenery and taking photos, we’ll return along the same trail to the vehicle and back to Puerto Río Tranquilo, closing a once-in-a-lifetime glacier trekking experience.

We are no longer operating this activity. Please check the activities we are currently working in .Like any human activity, ice hiking does have some degree of impact. However, since it is carried out in small groups and guided by certified guides who promote best practices, this impact is minimal and does not pose a threat to the glacier’s natural behavior. This is confirmed by glaciologists who regularly assess and monitor it.
