What to bring:
We will gather at our meeting point to start this Notting Hill Free Tour. In this place you will learn about the origins of this beautiful neighborhood, designed in the mid-19th century to be a bourgeois neighborhood, inspired by the noble neighborhoods of Chelsea, Kensington, Belgravia and Mayfair. Then you will go to Portobello Street, famous for its beautiful colorful houses, where you will visit the house of the famous British writer George Orwell and you will be able to appreciate one of Banksy's works. Going down Portobello Street you will reach the elegant antique shops and then you will discover Paddington Bear's favorite place for tea, the pub where James Bond worked and the favorite pub of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols and Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead. Then, walking down Westbourne Grove Street, you will see more celebrity homes, secret hotels and private parks. You will also know the place where Jimi Hendrix, one of the best guitarists in history, spent the last hours of his life, and you will recognize a well-known setting from the famous movie Notting Hill. Once back on Portobello Street you can see the eclectic market, passing in front of the famous bookstore where William Thacker, played by Hugh Grant in the film, worked, and you will enter the area of the neighborhood where the Caribbean immigrants settled. You will visit the Tabernacle and Sarm West Studios, where such important artists as Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Cure, U2, Blur, Adele, Coldplay and Bob Dylan, among many others, have rehearsed and recorded. You will also see the home of one of the founders of the Rolling Stones and the place where Pink Floyd first played. You will also visit St Luke Mews, another setting from the film starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
