Known as the city of eternal spring thanks to its spectacular climate, Trujillo is a vibrant city full of tourist attractions to discover, from incredible archaeological complexes to beautiful beaches characteristic of northern Peru.
1. Historic Center of Trujillo
Before exploring the best tourist attractions in Trujillo, a walk through the historic center is a must. With its beautiful and colorful colonial architecture, you can visit the Trujillo Cathedral Basilica, built in 1666, as well as the famous archaeological collection at Casa Urquiaga.
2. Huaca del Sol and Huaca de la Luna
The Huaca del Sol and Huaca de la Luna were two of the most important structures of the Moche culture. These two amazing huacas were located in the urban center of the Moche people, and in the past were surrounded by plazas, dwellings and streets where this large hierarchical society lived. Don't forget to visit the Museo Huacas de Moche, located very close to the archaeological site.
How to get to Huaca del Sol and Huaca de la Luna: The Huacas del Sol and de la Luna are located just 6 kilometers southeast of Trujillo and are part of what is known as the Moche Route. You can easily reach this place from the city center by taking a taxi or bus at the Grau roundabout. 3. El Brujo Archaeological Complex
A ceremonial center that tells the story of more than 5,000 years of human occupation, where you will find remains of the different ancestral cultures of Peru. Here you will find incredibly well-preserved figures in the murals of its pyramids. In 2006, the mummy of the Lady of Cao was discovered, a female ruler of the Moche culture.

4. Chan Chan
It is the largest pre-Columbian adobe city in the Americas and the second largest in the world. It was the capital of the Chimú kingdom and was composed of a total of ten citadels among which there were more than 100,000 workshops, pyramidal temples, streets and walls.
How to get to Chan Chan: The Chan Chan citadel is located just 5 kilometers from the center of Trujillo, so it's quite convenient to get there by taxi. 5. Conache Lagoon
A treasure of biodiversity in the Department of La Libertad. Conache Lagoon is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and connect with nature. The lagoon features spectacular flora and fauna where you can observe beautiful algarrobo trees, white herons, wild ducks, chiscos, among others.

6. Huanchaco Beach Resort
Huanchaco Beach Resort is the ideal destination for surf lovers and for those who want to enjoy the best seafood dishes of Peruvian gastronomy. Here you will see spectacular sunsets at its pier, as well as the surprising reed boats, up to four meters high, that decorate the entire beach.
How to get to Huanchaco Beach Resort: You can take a taxi from the city center that will take no more than 20 minutes. How to get to the Garden of the Senses: It is located 15 minutes from the center of Trujillo, at km 3.5 of the Industrial Highway to Laredo. Admission costs 10 soles for adults and 5 soles for children.
8. Pacasmayo
Although it is not technically one of the tourist attractions of Trujillo, Pacasmayo is a charming and beautiful beachfront city that we recommend visiting if you're already in Trujillo. It is a small paradise of colonial-style mansions, cold waters and strong winds perfect for surfing, as well as delicious dishes made with fish and seafood collected by the local residents.
How to get to Pacasmayo: Pacasmayo is located at km 670 of the Pan-American Highway North, 100 km from Trujillo. Buses leave from Trujillo's terminal approximately every half hour.
