We will gather at our meeting point to begin this Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill Guided Tour. You will start the tour by visiting the Colosseum. Originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater, this Roman Empire-era amphitheater was built in the 1st century and remains the largest amphitheater in the world. The Colosseum, along with the entire historic center of Rome, was admitted to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1980 and on July 7, 2007 was recognized as one of the new seven wonders of the modern world. Once inside you can see the cells where the gladiators were imprisoned before their fights, and where the lions and tigers were caged before entering the arena through the trapdoors. Then, at the Roman Forum you will walk along the “Via Sacra” (holy path) of Ancient Rome. This was the religious, political and financial center of the Roman Empire. Finally you will reach the Palatine Hill where, according to legend, Romulus and Remus, who are considered founders of Rome, were first discovered and fed by a she-wolf.
