What to bring:
We will begin the Fort San Lorenzo & Canal tour by heading toward Colón, at the entrance to the Panama Canal. You will arrive at the Aguaclara Locks Visitor Center, where you will see the most recent locks, built in 2016. You will then cross the Atlantico Bridge over the canal to Chagres National Park, where you can find Fort San Lorenzo, a World Heritage Site. Its construction was completed towards the end of the 16th century to protect the mouth of the Chagres River. During the tour, you can see monkeys, sloths, and anteaters, as well as a variety of bird species. You will also learn about pirates and shipwrecks during the colonial era. You will make a stop at the historic Fort Sherman, now a small marina, where you can have lunch (not included). Finally, you will return to Panama City to conclude the tour.
