Let's get prepared for a light trek with this Fray Jorge National Park & Encanto Valley National Monument, where we will be able to go over the tracks through a Valdivian forest in the middle of a semi-desert area and the archaeological heritage of the Molle culture.
Itinerary:
- Pickup at your hotel to leave La Serena and take the South 5 Route, so then take the detour towards the Fray Jorge National Park.
- We will go upwards the hill in a vehicle, having the possibility to see the landscape change from semi-desert to a hydrophilic forest.
- Once on the top, we will be witnesses of a Valdivian forest in the middle of the Chilean IV Region.
- We will recognize the flora of the place with a hike by the tracks, at the same time we make birdwatching.
- Once the journey on foot is ended, we will board the vehicle again to go by Barraza, where we will have lunch.
- After that, we will go towards the Encanto Valley National Monument that has an important pre-Columbian archaeological heritage, leaved there by the Molle culture.
- We will be able to traverse the area, watching pictographs, tacita stones and geological formations from the indigenous people who lived in the area.
- Return La Serena.
