"Es precioso, maravilloso el paisaje y la experiencia. La agencia se preocupa de todos los detalles y permite visitar con calma la montaña. La recomiendo para finalizar el viaje, son 5200 m de altura que sí se notan al caminar."

Descripción

*If you want to make the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain Trek and the Humantay Lagoon Trek, you must leave a free day between both activities because they have a high physical demand.

We will begin the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain Trek leaving Cusco towards Qollasuyo, an ancient Quechua path and an important part of the Tawantinsuyo. You will arrive at Cusipata, the first stop of the day, where you will have time to have breakfast. Then, you will continue the trip by vehicle, passing through Phulawasipata and beautiful landscapes until you reach the parking lot at 4,600 meters of altitude, from where you will begin to walk. The trek, which is physically demanding and for which you must prepare yourself, will be through a path between mountains from where you will have incredible views of the mountain range. After approximately 1 hour and a half, you will reach the top of Vinicunca, at 5,100 meters of altitude. From this place you will be able to see the Rainbow Mountain and you will also have a view of the Ausangate Mountain, the highest in Cusco at an altitude of 6,300 meters. After resting and taking photographs of this spectacular place, you will begin the 1-hour return trip to the vehicle to travel and then have lunch. After this, you will begin the return to Cusco, where the activity ends.

*Entrance tickets prices subject to change without previous notice.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The tour is made during the whole year, always subject to weather conditions.
  • Because we are talking about a mountain activity, of medium-high difficulty, our suggestion is to go with trekking poles, although we know these are not essential for the walking.
  • Although it can be made during the whole year, usually the weather is more stable from June to November, in which there are more sunny days. However, like we are talking about a mountain tour, there are occasions that the fog and clouds could make impossible to see the color’s mountain.
  • For the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain Trek, we will have lunch in a dining room of a local family, in a place called Cusipata, once we finish walking. The lunch includes salad, main course and juice.

  • The Rainbow Mountain is called the Mountain of 7 Colors because of the natural tones it presents on its surface, the result of the composition of minerals such as iron oxide, sulfur and chlorite. These colorful layers have been formed over millions of years and are spectacularly visible in the sunlight.
