What to bring:
We will gather at our meeting point to start this Historical Downtown Cali Free Tour. Cali is the third most populated city and the third economic center of Colombia, and it is one of the cities with the greatest ethnic diversity in the country, the so-called “La Sucursal del Cielo” (Branch of heaven). Although salsa is not native to Colombia or Cali, the city has generated a cultural identity around this musical genre and its respective dance, which is why it is known as the world capital of salsa. Throughout this cultural walk, you will relive the historical process that led Cali to civil wars, harsh moments of discrimination and you will also hear about the poems and songs dedicated to Cali and all its beauty. You can admire its colonial houses and the Jairo Varela Museum, and learn about its people and culture.
A free tour is a guided walking tour for which no fixed price is set in advance. At the end of the tour, the guide expects a tip as a thank you for their time and expertise, but the amount is up to you, depending on what you consider fair. It's a flexible and accessible way to get to know the city with the guidance of an expert.
