What to bring:
We will pick you up at your hotel in Arica to begin this tour through valleys that preserve the pre-Hispanic heritage of northern Chile.
You will start at Cerro Sombrero, where you will see geoglyphs such as the Great Llama, Trompilla, and Sacred Hill. Next, you will visit the Azapa Valley, known for olive cultivation, and the historic Poconchile Church, built in 1605. You will also discover the giant geoglyphs of Lluta and the Huaylacan colcas, ancient stone storage pits used by indigenous people.
To finish, you will explore the Lluta River Wetlands, the most important coastal wetland in northern Chile, home to migratory bird species along the Pacific coast.
Finally, we will return to Arica, closing a day that blends archaeology, history, and nature in the heart of the desert.
