Description
We will depart to Rancagua, and then head to the Sewell Foundation, where you will receive a safety briefing and an introductory video about the town’s history. Once in Sewell, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the El Teniente mine, the largest underground copper mine in the world.
You will walk through its colorful wooden houses and iconic stairways, visiting landmarks such as the Teniente Club, with its historic halls and old swimming pool. A guided tour will reveal the daily life of the 15,000 people who once lived in this unique mountain camp.
To conclude, you will visit the Museum of Great Copper Mining and the souvenir shop before returning to Santiago with a deeper understanding of Chile’s mining heritage.

The optional lunch is served at the Sewell workers' cafeteria and consists of a set menu that includes an appetizer, a choice of main course, a dessert, and a beverage. This service is available by reservation only before the tour, and it is not possible to purchase lunch directly at the cafeteria on the day of the visit. Although there are several menu options available, the cafeteria does not offer specific meals for vegetarians, vegans, people with celiac disease, or other dietary restrictions. If you have any special dietary requirements, we recommend not adding the lunch and bringing your own food.
If you choose not to add the optional lunch, you will find a cafeteria in Sewell where you can purchase packaged snacks and fast-food options such as sandwiches, hot dogs, sopaipillas, and French fries. The cafeteria accepts cash (Chilean pesos) as well as credit and debit cards. You may also bring your own food and eat it in the cafeteria, which has a designated dining area for visitors.
Depending on the tour arrangement for your selected date, transportation may be in a 15-passenger Sprinter van (or similar) or a standard bus with capacity for up to 45 passengers.
