We will depart from Santiago to Rancagua, and then head to the Sewell Foundation, where you will receive a safety briefing and an introductory video about the town’s history. Once in Sewell, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the El Teniente mine, the largest underground copper mine in the world.
You will walk through its colorful wooden houses and iconic stairways, visiting landmarks such as the Teniente Club, with its historic halls and old swimming pool. A guided tour will reveal the daily life of the 15,000 people who once lived in this unique mountain camp.
To conclude, you will visit the Museum of Great Copper Mining and the souvenir shop before returning to Santiago with a deeper understanding of Chile’s mining heritage.
Lunch is served at the workers' cafeteria in Sewell. It follows a set menu format and includes a starter, a main course of your choice, a dessert, and a beverage. While there are several options available, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or other special menus are not offered. Therefore, if you have any dietary restrictions, we recommend bringing additional food to meet your needs.
