Description

We’ll head east from San Pedro de Atacama into the Andes. The first stop is the Licancabur viewpoint, where, weather permitting, you’ll enjoy breakfast with volcano views. If wind conditions aren’t suitable, breakfast will be served at the Quepiaco River wetland, an Andean oasis framed by mountain slopes.


You’ll continue to the Pacana viewpoint and then the Pacana Monks, striking stone pillars rising in solitude in the Atacama Desert, a perfect spot for photos.


Next, visit the Quisquiro Salt Flat, at over 4,000 m (13,120 ft), with time to rest and take in the high-Andean scenery. On the way back, we’ll stop at the Aguas Calientes Salt Flat, famous for its multi-colored waters, before returning to San Pedro de Atacama.

  • The route reaches >4,000 m (13,120 ft); stay hydrated and walk at an easy pace.
  • Pick-up and drop-off is not available for lodgings outside the urban area, in nearby ayllus (Quitor, Yaye, Checar, Sequitor, Solor, Coyo) or in Toconao.
