We'll begin this tour by traveling north of Lima, where you'll visit the Caral Ruins. This city is one of the oldest urban settlements in the Americas and the cradle of a civilization that developed at the same time with Egypt, India, China, and Mesopotamia. You'll tour the Caral pyramids, discovered in the first half of the 20th century, the complex canal systems, and ceremonial plazas that bear witness to the civilization that emerged more than 5,000 years ago. Your guide will explain the complexity of the structures and the high level of technology and social organization that went into their construction. After this experience, you'll return to Lima with a stop for lunch at a typical local restaurant (not included).
