Day 1: Pampa Cañahuas – Chivay

We’ll depart from Arequipa and head into the high Andes, crossing Pampa Cañahuas, where it’s common to see vicuñas in their natural habitat, one of the Andes’ most iconic animals. Next, you’ll stop at Patahuasi for a break. If you’d like, you can try a coca tea (not included), a classic local option often used to help with altitude discomfort.Then you’ll continue to the Toccra Wetlands (Bofedales de Toccra), a fascinating Andean ecosystem where you can spot alpacas and the unique landscapes of high-altitude wetlands. Later, you’ll reach the Volcano Viewpoint at around 4,900 meters, a perfect spot to take in sweeping mountain views and feel the magic of the altiplano.Finally, you’ll arrive in Chivay, the main town in the Colca Valley. You’ll have free time for lunch (not included), then check in to your accommodation. The afternoon is yours: stroll around town, soak up the local vibe, or visit the hot springs (not included) to end the day feeling refreshed.

Day 2: Cruz del Cóndor – Colca Valley Terraces – Arequipa

Early in the morning, at 6:00 AM, we’ll head to the Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint, the best-known spot to admire the canyon and, if you’re lucky, watch the Andean condor soaring over Colca’s dramatic cliffs. It’s a truly moving experience and one of those moments you’ll remember long after the trip.As the tour continues, you’ll stop at several valley viewpoints, where you’ll see the impressive Colca Valley agricultural terraces (ancient pre-Inca and Inca-era farming terraces) and visit traditional villages, ideal for discovering local daily life and typical Andean architecture. You’ll have time for lunch (not included) before beginning the return to Arequipa’s main square.

Connection Chivay – Puno

In case you have a bus ticket from Chivay to Puno departing between 12:45 pm and 1:15 pm, you can end the this tour in Chivay. This must be requested in the Additional comments box of the online booking process. The bus ticket from Chivay to Puno you must buy before in Redbus.
