You will leave Amsterdam to visit the surrounding countryside to begin this Zaanse Schans, Marken & Volendam Day Trip. First, you will visit the historic windmills of Zaanse Schans. You can find more than ten windmills around the banks of the Zaan River and the area surrounding them is free to enter. You will then visit Volendam, a typical Dutch fishing village, where you will visit a cheese factory and have the opportunity to have a cheese tasting. But there is much more to discover in this town that dates back to the 12th century. Alternatively, if you choose the all-included option, you can travel between Volendam and Marken by boat, on a picturesque 30-minute trip across the IJsselmeer Lake.
